Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

Location

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB)–the largest base in the U.S. Air Force and a center for primary and applied technology research–is just 7 minutes from downtown Dayton and Tech Town. At the heart of Tech Town's existence is a collaborative spirit that strives to take technologies developed at WPAFB and apply them to commercial uses.

Located within WPAFB is the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the Air Force's sole organization dedicated to the development of warfighting technologies and its leading aerospace research organization. Collaborations between the AFRL and private companies are already in place, with even more opportunities are becoming available to Dayton technology businesses.

In addition, WPAFB is home of the Air Force Institute of Technology, where thousands of students are educated each year.

  • WPAFB by the Numbers
