In addition to being one of the U.S. Air Forces’s largest bases, Wright Patterson Air Force Base is one of the top employers in the Greater Dayton region. Approximately 22,000 people work at the base, including 10,000 civilians. The base is home to two important technology-related organizations: The Air Force Research Laboratory, the leading aerospace research organization in the Air Force; and the Air Force Institute of Technology, where thousands of students are educated each year.

Wright Patterson is also home to the U.S. Air Force Museum, the world’s oldest and largest military aviation museum, which draws 1.5 million visitors each year.
